In a land where machines hunt Earth’s last survivors, the stubborn child of a vulnerable family is forced to prove herself as a protector.

Machines (“Beskermers”) hunt humans. Sisters Tink (14) and Kari (27) hide in an abandoned farmhouse. Kari works on their late father’s project (to modify a decommissioned Beskermer into their Guardian).

Tink sneaks outside to find the machine’s missing part but wakes a Beskermer that hunts her home. Tink’s part fails but she discovers the digital implants her father placed in her are the key to piloting the machine. She controls the Guardian and saves the day in an epic showdown.

It’s a thrilling coming-of-age story in the wake of the apocalypse. In the end, Tink will save the day and learn that what it took to be a family guardian had always been within her.
